Volunteer

Join our community of WAGEC volunteers to help support women and children living in crisis.

Volunteering at WAGEC

Volunteers play an invaluable role in enabling us to ensure safe futures for women and families, by helping provide targeted support when it is needed the most. Whether it be through sorting donations, facilitating therapeutic activities for women and children, or supporting our team at Walk For WAGEC: volunteers make the work we do possible.

If you have questions about our volunteer program, or want to know more about how you can get involved with WAGEC, please get in touch below.

Current Opportunities

We are currently looking for volunteers to fill the following roles:

⭐ Community Chefs ⭐

We’re looking for volunteers who can prepare and serve a nutritious lunch to women in the community. WAGEC will cover the cost of the groceries needed, so all you need to bring is yourself and a recipe you’d love to share.

⭐ Activity Facilitators ⭐

We’re looking for volunteers who would like to use their skills and passion to support women in WAGEC’s community by leading group activities. Activities could include massage, karaoke, manicures/pedicures, hairdressing, dance, and more.

⭐ Job Readiness Coaches ⭐

We’re looking for volunteers who would like to support women living in refuge to improve their job searching and employability skills on a weekly basis. Are you comfortable with creating and editing CVs? Interested in helping women build confidence and explore career opportunities? This role is a great opportunity to use your knowledge and experience to help women work towards financial independence!

⭐ Fundraising Assistant ⭐

Do you have experience in an office or hospitality environment? Are you a whiz on the phones? We want to hear from you! We are looking for a regular volunteer to provide administrative support in our head office. This is an opportunity to use your skills and passion to support our Fundraising team and help promote WAGEC in the community. This is a regular volunteering role occurring in-person on either Mondays, Tuesdays, or Thursdays.

⭐ Handiwork Heroes ⭐

We are looking for volunteers who would like to support WAGEC with handiwork assistance. If you’re tool-savvy, have a knack for fixing things, or love putting together flat pack furniture, we want to hear from you! This is an opportunity to use your skills to support our clients and frontline workers and help keep our sites in great shape.

Volunteer at Walk for WAGEC

Our annual Walk for WAGEC fundraiser is coming up, and we need your help! Walk for WAGEC 2025 is set to be the biggest ever, and we're looking for a crew of passionate volunteers to assist with the event. Walk for WAGEC volunteering roles include checking participants in at the Registration Hub, sharing information about WAGEC with new supporters, guiding and cheering on Walk participants, and more.

Please complete the form linked below to express your interest in volunteering at Walk for WAGEC, and our Community Engagement Coordinator will get in touch to share the next steps. If you have any questions, please contact volunteer@wagec.org.au.

Corporate Volunteering

Corporate volunteering is an incredible way to support WAGEC’s vision while building your team’s spirit, skillsets, and relationships with the wider community. From working bees at our crisis accommodation sites to creating “back-to-school” care packs, these collective efforts are key to helping WAGEC create safe spaces for women and children.

Our corporate volunteer program is currently on hold while we reassess our needs across WAGEC. If your team is interested in supporting WAGEC in other ways, you can learn more about our ACCESS mentoring program, discover training opportunities for your team, and/or make a donation to help build safe futures for women and children.
